Christine Cornwell is a composer-violinist-facilitator and creative connector based in Rotterdam with a diverse portfolio of socially engaged and collaborative projects.

Her approach connects free improvisation and co-creation to (collaboratively) challenge hierarchies and boundaries between audience, performer, and space. As a creative connector, her practice is centred around listening for (unexpected) connections and spaces where co-creation can be nurtured.

She founded Stichting Art that Listens in 2024, which is an umbrella for capstone projects Book of Premonitions, Sounding Here and SamenKlanken.

She is proud to be part of the co-composition artistic research and commissions with artist Adriana Minu (RO/UK) including a commission at the Nadar Ensemble’s Summer School(BE), at Gaudeamus Muziekweek(NL), Warsaw Autumn, HCMF (UK), and De Singel Antwerp(BE).

Since 2025 Christine is in a creative partnership with experimental music and teaching work with inclusive Theater Babel in Rotterdam.

Previous Christine Cornwellristine Cornwell creative connections  include work as co-founder of Streetview Collective (Amsterdam), co-founder of ArtBreak (Rotterdam), an associate composer at Stan's Cafe Theater Company (Birmingham, UK) and is employed as a creative producer and Professional Development teacher at Codarts (Rotterdam).

She has premiered new works for solo violin by composers such as Angela Elizabeth Slater, Eda Er, Bobby Barry, Max Gibson + has worked on existing works with Michael Wolters, Howard Skempton, Elliott Sharp, Jo Kondo.

Performance venues/festivals including: Snape Maltings, Barbican, Town Hall Birmingham, Centrala, Ideas of Noise (UK) Eastside Projects, EYE film instituut (NL), Fenix Factory (NL), WORM (NL), Varia (NL), IICS(TR) Frontiers Festival, Grachtenfestival (NL), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (NL), Illuminate Women's Music Season II (2019 UK tour), Fusion (DE), and BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6, NPO 2.
She has recorded music for: Mabe Fratti, Lisa, Josh Herring, Robert Nettleship and is involved in projects currently with several bands in the underground music scene in The Netherlands.

Christine is currently sponsored to study an MA programme: Arts and Cultural Enterprise at Central St Martins, University of the Arts in London. She has a Masters in Classical Composition from Codarts University of the Arts, Rotterdam, and a Bachelor in Music Performance (violin) from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

She is an active member (as of 2022) of the Batavierhuis musical cooperative in Rotterdam where she rehearses and is the coordinator of the Internal Events Committee.
